So often I find that it is difficult to locate just the right paper or embellishments for a "manly" craft project. I wanted to make a cool tag for my brother's birthday. When I saw this paper at Michael's I just HAD to buy it !! It is nice thick, double-sided print paper and had this awesome print about Old Guys Rule !! I loved the funny sayings and the Recliner chairs on it...so I went to work - First, covered one side of the tag with a strip of the paper completely. (the back) Then I added a thick rubber bad to the bottm 1/4 of the card, to use as a holder for a Gift card. I then glued an "Old Guys Rule" emblem onto the rubber band. I then cut a rectangle of kraft paper and ran it through my Cuttlebug using an embossing folder of "Happy Birthday" script writing and inked it with burgundy ink. I cut some of the words from the paper and arrnaged them on the layout with foam tape.
Oh, yes- I forgot that first I sponged the entire front side of the tag with burgundy ink too. Well, I cut out a tiny recliner chair and then coated it with Glossy Accents to make it shine and mounted it with foam tape. I added a Golden Roman coin in one corner because it looked so "manly" and added some gold stickles to the birthday candle flame and emblem, and a little bit of dark burgundy beads on the right corner. Added some brown striped twine and a brown wooden button to the tie on end.
And... there we have it ! A masculine Birthday tag !! I hope he likes it and I am also making one for a SWAP partner on the Cricut Message Board. I will be back soon with the Valentine's Day cards I am working on tonight !!
